Delsys has been at the forefront of innovative developments in electromyography since 1993. Our Parallel-Bar Sensors established the foundation for unmatched signal quality consistency and reliability in present-day EMG Systems. Our new line of Trigno™ Wireless Sensors builds on this solid foundation, once again creating a milestone in EMG-sensing technology. This revolutionary design promises unmatched reliability, signal quality and freedom of movement.

  • Patented Parallel-Bar Technology
  • Triaxial Accelerometer in each sensor
  • Guaranteed performance to 40 m
  • 37mm x 26mm x 15mm, 14g
  • 8 hours of operation in full transmission mode
  • 2 hour recharge time

Our patented approach uses two EMG inputs with proprietary stabilizing references. This proprietary design allows the sensor to react instantaneously to disturbances detected on the surface of the skin, dramatically reducing the impact of these noise sources on the detected EMG signal quality. The Trigno™ Sensor System is protected by US Patents 6480731, 6238338 and European Patent EP1070479.

Low Crosstalk

Large contact areas and electrode distances >10 mm introduce a high risk of crosstalk from adjacent and underlying muscles. EMG content resulting from crosstalk cannot be distinguished from the muscle of interest.

The small inter-electrode distance of Delsys sensors rejects EMG signals originating from distant sources, effectively focusing the sensor’s detection abilities to muscles immediately below the skin.

Low Artifact

Passive snap-style electrodes suffer from artifacts generated by cable movement and by mismatched electrode movement during activities.

In contrast, the patented Trigno™ design amplifies the signal at the source and precludes mismatched electrode movement, removing the major sources of artifacts.

Varying this distance between trials and across subjects can introduce artificial variability in the recorded data. The use of traditional snap-style electrodes often imposes these inconsistencies into the data because of the difficulty in achieving a consistent, repeatable placement.

Trigno™ Sensors remove this problem by guaranteeing a fixed electrode distance of 10 mm under all conditions.

General Specifications

Typical Operating Range (1) 40 m
RF Frequency Band 240-2483 MHz (ISM band)
Power Consumption < 65 mW
Effective Radiated Power 9 mW
RF Protocol Proprietary
Case Dimension 27 x 37 x 15 mm
Full-charge Operation Time (2) 8 hours (typical)
Recharge Time (3) < 2.5 hours
Mass 14.7 g
Auto Shut-down timer 300 seconds
Temperature Range (4) 5-50 degrees Celsius
  1. Range is characterized in normal office environments. Interfering RF sources in the 2.4GHz spectrum, as well as absorptive objects occluding the RF communication path may degrade transmission distance. Stated range can be exceeded under favorable RF conditions.
  2. Battery duration is a function of charge and discharge conditions. Optimal battery performance is obtained when the device is operated at room temperature. Note that the stated Operation time reflects the expected performance of a fully charged new battery used in a sensor that is transmitting data. Operation time is expected to decrease as a function of charge cycles, and when the sensor is searching for a network.
  3. 80 % of original battery capacity is maintained after 300 discharged/recharge cycles or after 2 years. If recharge cycles are less than 300. These values represent typical expectations under normal conditions. Actual performance will vary depending on usage conditions.
  4. Operation beyond these temperature limits may damage the rechargeable battery.

EMG Specifications

Range (1) 11 mV (r.t.i.)
Resolution (EMG Signal) (2) 168 nV/bit (LSB)
Bandwidth (EMG signal) 20 ± 5 Hz > 40 dB/dec
450 ± 50 Hz > 80 dB/dec
Passband Ripple < 2%
Overall Channel Noise < 0.75uV
CMRR > 80dB
Sampling Rate 2000 samples/sec
Number of Contacts 4
Contact Dimensions 5 x 1 mm
Contact Material 99.9 % Silver
  1. Range is characterized for the input of the EMG sensor and is sampled with 16 bits.
  2. ADC Resolution is specified for the input of the sensor.
  3. Filter is designed as a maximally flat Butterworth to preserve EMG signal amplitude and phase linearity.
  4. Input-referred noise is calculated as a root mean square over a 5 second window sampled at 2kHz
  5. CMRR is measured for a minimum 1V common square mode input signal at a frequency of 60 Hz
  6. EMG signal sampling rate is intrinsic to the sensor and cannot be changed. This has been optimized for the communication bandwidth and signal conditioning designs
  7. Sensor skin contacts are made from pure silver and should not be used if allergic reactions to silver are expected or found to occur.
